What is PDR

Paintless Dent Repair or what’s commonly referred to as PDR is the process of removing minor dents, door dings and automobile hail damage with the use of custom made tools designed to work behind the vehicles panels and allows a highly skilled professional PDR technician to gently massage and reshape the metal back to its original condition without the need for bondo and repainting in most cases.

PDR allows the customers vehicle to preserve its original factory paint finish, which we all know is extremely important because once a vehicle has been painted it not only voids the original factory warranty on the paint finish, but it also diminishes the value of the vehicle as well and in the case of automobile hail damage that can be a severe financial loss the insurance company doesn’t compensate you for when you collect on your insurance claim from a hail storm.

PDR is an extremely important tool in preserving the appearance of your vehicle and the value as well. PDR is the preferred method of repairing those unsightly blemishes verses going the more traditional route of a body shop not only for the reasons mentioned above but also because in most cases the repair can be done while you wait instead of waiting days or even weeks and without messy overspray, poor quality paint work, color not matching, etc. something I’m sure most of us have experienced before. PDR not only saves you the convenience of time but also money as well compared to conventional body shop repairs.

The consumer awareness of Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) has increased significantly over the past decade as the use by car dealers, auto leasing companies, car rental companies, and insurance companies has increased, mainly due to the fact that late model vehicles use more flexible metal and more paint resilient finishes and in fact the primary procedure paid for by insurance companies today is PDR.

PDR is an excellent alternative for use on vehicles that were produced after 1990, with small to medium size dents with no broken or cracked paint that are not located near the edge of the panel and as long as the panel has had no prior body damage repair with bondo.

Dangers of Steering Repairs

When an insurance company pushes you to have your vehicle repaired at a bodyshop other than the one you have chosen, that’s steering.

You have the legal right to have your vehicle repaired at any shop you choose and the insurance company is required by law to pay the reasonable cost to repair the accident damage according to the limits set forth in your policy.

Even if the shop you have chosen is not on the insurance company’s program, you still have the right to have your vehicle repaired wherever you choose and the insurance company is legally obligated to pay the reasonable costs to repair.

Insurance adjusters are very aware of the steering laws and some have become very adept at using the right wording to stay just clear of the line. For instance…
